Japanese paper doll walking simulator

Title says it all. Very pretty game with unique art, music, and gameplay, but lacking overall. Very short, but seems to take forever as you just walk so slow and there is no way to run. Understandable, however, as if you could, the game would be over in 15 minutes. Too short for full price, but at the current .99 sale, pick it up if it looks interesting to you. =D

Boring

Graphics are nice but the game is lame. My critique may be harsh but I compare it to Monument Valley. The course of the game is not exciting.

Boring, tedious, boring

This isnt so much a game as it is a very boring set of tasks. I cant see how it got to be the editors choice. It certainly isnt for gameplay or clever puzzles. It is just boring.

Calming Zen Story Book Game

I like to take some quiet time before bed and relax, and this story book game has the most relaxing music and it is a game that allows you to work simple problems to tell a story, without stress. It actually relaxes me and makes me feel good. I highly recommend it to people who do not need an action packed game, but like story books ( like adult pop up story books), that are very Zen.

Not worth the money

Especially if you compare this with other puzzle games at the same price, this feels like a ripoff. Yeah, the graphics is original but thats the only redeeming quality.

This "game" is not fun.

Its modeled after a flip book and its about as challenging as one. Theres nothing to this game. Its beautiful sure, but its not fun, not entertaining, not challenging, not intuitive, and not worth the money.

Amazing

I loved this game. Its "lack" of detailed plot leaves it open for us to imagine the some of the story for ourselves. Sometimes, this is more powerful than a laid-out story because it is more personal and can hold a special place in our hearts.

Amazing and Artistic.

This game is absolutely original and creative in terms of game concept and design. I love the atmosphere and music as they are very relaxing and artistic. Perhaps, it is not as great as the game “Monument Valley” in terms of game concept. But, overall this is still a very wonderful game and I am glad I bought it.

Cool to look at, not much to play

This is a hard game to review. First off, it is beautiful, and the folding paper aspect is an interesting way to interact with the environment. The gameplay is akin to a classic graphic adventure game (like myst), but there is no overall story and the puzzles are not particularly clever. The puzzles are neither insane brain teasers nor obvious and intuitive. They just sort of reveal themselves through trial and error and interacting with the environment. It is also quite short but still felt slow and tedious. While I have to give the developer credit for the amazing art direction, Id love to see them take this proof of concept and turn it into a genuinely good game like Waking Mars or Monument Valley.

Not Worth $5

The game was ok. The puzzles were easy and simple I could see this game being challenging for young kids but not adults. The music was pretty and so were the graphics. But the game play was short, there wasnt much of a story, and was a little too simple to be worth $5. I would not repurchase this again and I feel cheated out of $5.

Finished

Okay Ive already beaten this game awhile ago it took me awhile like a week but thats only because I have a toddler and play when I have free time. It was fun challenging but honestly a waste of money. I had no clue what to do half the time or why I was doing it. The game is peaceful but after awhile the music gets annoying and you cant mute it or play your own music. The graphics were great but the character walked so slow like my dad slow which is really slow like sloth slow. Its very annoying. The last update was in 2014 and its now 2016!! What are you people doing?!?! So yeah dont waste your money not worth it if I didnt have a child could have beaten in 2 hours.

beautiful, but not worth $5

The pop-up book was a great idea, art was lovely, puzzles were challenging without being frustrating… but I wish I hadnt wasted the money. Theres only 3 levels (10 would have made the game worth it). I spent a few minutes on the first, maybe 20 mins on the second, and about an hour on the third (it was the least obvious, most challenging one). Done. It would have been better composed as a choose your own adventure-type game with the different pop-ups opening to different points of the story, then requiring you to navigate your way backwards to find a hidden clue… but I digress. I can pay less for a movie rental on iTunes and get more than 90 minutes of entertainment.

Lovely art boring gameplay

This game although beautiful is painfully slow and does not pose any real mental challenge. You simply wander about...slowly until the game guides you to the goal in each level. There are plenty other puzzle games out there that will challenge you...

Can I have my money back

This was waaaaay to expensive for such a short and pointless game

Too Much Money, Not Enough Game

Tengami is a beautiful game and has some fun puzzles and innovative game play, but it has two major flaws: The game is way too short. From start to finish, the game took me about 45 minutes. Only 20 minutes of that was actual gameplay, because the character takes SO long to walk from one place to another that thats what you spend a majority of the time doing. That said, 20 minutes of fun for $4.99 is incredibly overpriced. I would have been happy paying $0.99 for this, but as it is Im dissatisfied. Dont buy it unless you have money to throw away.

Not bookish at all

Paper looks computerized. No realistic texture. Doesnt appear like I can actually touch it. Takes me out of the illusion. Puzzles are meh. Walking takes forever.
